Special visitors

Some Monday’s can be a real bore, everyone back to school & work, the house screaming for some attention that you really cant be bothered to do. Thankfully today was different, I had visitors.

My 1st visitor came bearing a surprise, something she knew I was sure to love, a real awwww moment and indeed it was..

My friend Kerrie brought to show me the cutest bundle of cuteness, that wasn’t a grandchild.

A beautiful ball of white fur, a little baby, not very old at all.

Kerrie thinks that the little rabbit  may have snuck out of its warm cosy burrow to find an adventure.

Lucky, that’s the name of the little rabbit, because it turns out he was very lucky as Kerrie’s cat had found him and brought him to the house.

Kerrie knew that I would be over the moon to take some photo’s of this little bundle of cuteness so it was time for a photo shoot for the little white Rabbit named Lucky!

Little white Rabbit IMG_6212IMG_6074

I took so many photos that I lost count but I thought Id try to add a photo to my FB page each day until Easter Sunday.

He was so sweet, I think I could have gladly have kept him, if my hubby would let me.

My other visitor today was a young girl who I have known since she was just a little thing going to Pre-school with my daughter Shannon.

Miss Laura had come today for some advice on starting a quilt.

Armed with her material and a pkt of Delicious chocolate Hot cross buns we decided that a cup of tea was in order first.

Then it was time to begin Laura’s journey into the world of quilts.

First we cut our squares:

Then we sewed:

The we smiled, because Laura had made her very first quilt block!!

 IMG_6406 IMG_6408

Laura is off to see her grandmother in England in September, & is planning to stay for a year, a whole year, how exciting.  I’m assuming that by the time she gets back she will be a dab hand at quilting, I am also hoping she will start a blog so that we can share with her her adventure’s that I am sure she will have.

Anyhow after showing Laura my little Garden and all the current projects I have on the go and my messy craft flat, that desperately needs tidying again, I gave her some very important advise…….finish this project before starting another, somehow I think I may have been talking to myself!!

So I am thinking Laura went home to find a space  so she can continue making the rest of her blocks before taking the next step. ( Actually I know she did as I have just spotted some photos on FB of the blocks she has made at home, well done!!)

That’s about it for me, it time for bed!!!

I love days that wear you out..

Batten down the hatches…

I’ve been told there’s a “Mini cyclone” heading our way and it should touch down about lunch time tomorrow.

I’ve been warned to prepare, But can one ever be prepared?

Especially when its something your really looking forward too,

How could this dear, sweet, adorable little man be a “mini Cyclone”, I just refuse to believe anything that looks that sweet could be trouble, Surely not, but I am prepared to take the risk to find out.

My son and his family , are coming to spend Easter with me.

I’m so excited…….

I’m loving the idea of having an Easter egg hunt with the boys in the morning, and then a proper Easter Lunch.

“Mmmm I’m thinking Baked chicken and cheesecake for desert.”

The bead desk has been made as child proof as can be….

The Easter bunny has dropped off his supply of little eggs for the hunt.

And Low and behold, I even got the duster out today and Dusted!!

All crafting adventure’s will be put on hold, at least those that involve beads that could become a temptation for sweet little finger’s, at least for a few days..

Perhaps it just might be a good time  to pull out the knitting needles & begin working on the mate to this poor lonely sock that I finished at the end of last winter.

Geez, hope I can remember how I managed to knit this one…..

Or  there’s that quilt I need to finish, a little bit of hand sewing might just be in order ( but guess who couldn’t help themselves when she  put up her  hand up at a recent craft get together and said  “Yay” to starting yet another quilt.

This one  I figure will teach me how to cut and lay out the blocks, so It will be a learning quilt, and I do love a challenge,  perhaps I might just get to use up some of that material I have been storing for a rainy day!

Kind of like being frugal, well thats what I keep telling myself.

I have already started with the  completion of my first 2 blocks, It was decided that we would use the Easter break to get them both  done, but I had a hankering to get mine done earlier this week.

So  begins another adventure.

Block Number 1:  Sarah’s choice

Sarahs choice

Block Number 2:  Memory

memory block

Eventually we will have 9 blocks in total………Easy peasy.

Oh and I’ve fallen in Love with Macramé….

Who would have thought it…..

Feels like our Sunny Autumn days are all but numbered here,  seems to get cooler with each passing day, guess it wont be too much longer before I’ll be moaning about how cold it is.

I have had some changes to my work place, the shop was sold & so I now have a new boss, I must admit I was a little bit wary of what would happen to me but it turns out that things may just be Ok. The new owner is a lovely lady who has great plan’s to turn the shop into a place of comfort/friendship and learning and wants me to be a big part of that, so I’m feeling pretty good and excited about what the future holds……

Time for me to go and double check that everything is in order for my visitors tomorrow,

Hope everyone’s Easter is filled with all things good and Yummy….

And to those family members that won’t be with me this Easter…….

I’m loving & missing you all in one xox

It’s beginning to look a bit like……….

Naked Xmas tree

My Christmas tree is Naked……………

I cannot believe that in less than a week, the Big Man in Red will be coming down our Chimney,

Ok perhap’s not,  considering we don’t have a chimney,

you get my drift……

I’m pretty sure I spotted him down town only the other day…..

Santa is in town

Could it be????

If only Shannon had known she could have put her order in  (& saved me some money).

Dan survived his first year of high school, Yay! & somehow managed to get considerably taller, I think he’s got me covered….

Shannon and Dan made us very proud with their academic achievements  both receiving awards for different subjects……

My kids

Another good thing about getting close to the end of the year is to see the kids perform in their chosen out of school activitys, that has kept them busy all year through.

For Dan it was a play with his Drama group…..

I think it was loosely based on a teacher as school, and some fellow students….

And finally I got to watch Shannon dance…….

Dance girl

I couldn’t help but cry, you know when u dont really get a choice…

& so did her “Mr Wonderful” father, but shh I didn’t tell you that.

Craft wise  I discovered the best tutorial on how to cover a styraphome ball to make it look like its quilted….

I have totally fallen in love with the Idea of making something so plain look so cool….

Thankyou so much Angie

Thank goodness there are such talented lady’s who like to share their creativity.

I enjoyed making this ball so much that I made a couple for the “crafty girls” Xmas swap.

(Lucky Sue was the xmas ball recipent)

The crafty's

I was also part of the Australian beading forums xmas swap this year and I showed you the goodies I received in my last post, well in this post I’ll show you what I made for my Xmas Buddy , and guess what I was hers.

Anyhow after reading her likes and dislike I decided that a book cover  that fits an A4 art book would be my gift…

Just the place to jot down those creative thought’s.

And I’m happy to report that she loved it…

So I’m thinking that I am ready  for that Red man In the suit to come calling.

The presents have been bought, the food list has been sorted mind you  this year  there will be no little sweeties here to make my day extra special, but I know that in a few weeks I’ll get to see them all……

It will be like getting that very special Xmas gift,

Something to look forward to…

And I think I’ll still put the milk and cookie out for Santa, regardless after all he does need all the energy he can muster so that he can get to Jake, Kiera, Kurt, Christian, Bailey and Master Mason, and Of course Ebony and Mitchell ( my niece and  Nephew)…………

And ALL the good little boys and girls around the world..

Including 2 big kids living here at home, after all they have been pretty good this year.

Perhaps I’d better leave a whole packet of cookies out for him, looks like he’s going to be busy…

And guess what???xmas tree

The Christmas tree has  found its Christmas spirit…….

Begining to look like xmas

“Christmas! The very word brings joy to our hearts. No matter how we may dread the rush, the long Christmas lists for gifts and cards to be bought and given–when Christmas Day comes there is still the same warm feeling we had as children, the same warmth that enfolds our hearts and our homes."

Joan Winmill Brown, American author and editor.

My wish to you is that you enjoy the special day with your loved ones, hold them dear, eat, be Merry and look forward to the New year ahead….

What’s all the “Ruckus” about?

I am happy to  report that finally I am recovery form the surgery ,which was well over 2 week ago .  I am feeling so much better , actually come to think of it  I think I just may be appreciating everything I have just that little bit more.

My Operation was to remove a Benign Tumour from my Face, which is not really an easy task for me to fathom but the Drs seemed to know what they are doing.(Thank God).

They sliced down the front of my ear and partially my neck, and then they pulled back the skin on my face to remove the tumour.

Thank Goodness one is given Heavy duties drugs for such occasions.

But that was then and this is today and Its so amazing how the scar is all but healed and to be honest unless you know what has happened you would never guess.

Mind you I do still have some healing to go, my eye doesn’t quite shut properly and I cant move my eyebrow up or down, important things to me but quite trivial in the things that matter  but the Dr  has assured  me that with time it will heal..

All that left now is to get back to what’s important and that’s living life to it’s fullest.

I’m off to the Dr’s on Friday for final result’s of the tumour but I’m feeling pretty confident that it’s all going to be Ok..

Ok so that’s the Yucky bit over and done with and now we can continue on with the Happy moments, like our “little” visitor we had last Saturday.

Mr Wonderful woke to the sounds of howling outside our window and upon further investigation he came to tell me there was a HUGE big dog hanging around the back gate.

I’m thinking he was doing his best to wooo our Miss Milly Dog. Who in actual fact was sitting in the furthest corner of the back Yard, as far away as she could possible get…

Anyway,  we soon made ourselves a friend..

Lost Dog

Notice how Mr Wonderful is Behind the fence………

At first we thought the pooch was trying to tell us something important, Kind of of like Lassie and Mr Wonderful was sure he wanted him to follow, (well you hear about how clever dogs can be) But it soon became apparent that Pooch just wanted to play….

Come Hither

So Mr Wonderful game him a drink while I called our local Pound.

Thankfully our “little” friend was Micro chipped and his owner was found very quickly, and it turned out that he was a neighbour who escaped from his dwellings 2 houses down…

Master “RUKUS”!

Never a dog more aptly named.   He certainly caused a bit of “ruckus” in the few short hours in which we was involved in his world , Miss Milly was very much relieved that she didn’t have to make his acquaintance  in person, and is quite happy to converse over the neighbouring fences.

Cricket season has begun…….

Craft wise things have been a little bit slow for the past couple of week but I’m happy to report the  creative Mojo is  starting to kick back in……….

Before my Operation I managed to finish off a necklace using bits and pieces of a Plate that Mr Wonderful had cut for me…..

Soldered necklace

Tomorrow this necklace will be going down to Oz art,  Robyn rang me yesterday to tell me I had sold a few more pieces, Yay!

And after my Operation I had  a hankering to make a cross……….

I’m quite chuffed with my Cross because I made it all from my very own mind……….

Its great when the creative juices kick in, and even  though  it didn’t quite match the vision that I had in my thought’s but  I was still pretty happy none the less..

Now I need to jot it down so I don’t forget how I made it.

I’ve already been asked to make one  as a Xmas gift.

Finally before I leave, my friend Jennifer and I went and visited some of the local gardens that were part of a Spring Spectacular..

And that’s exactly what it was, SPECTACULAR….

Some of the Beautiful Homes and gardens were Just awe inspiring and so very “Drool worthy”, Ruckus would have been right at home in the old drool factor.

I do plan to share photo’s but I’ve ran out of time  “some sort of housework must be done before the crew arrive home” but for today I will share with you are very special moment at one of the very stately homes we visited.

The Peacock……….

Shaking his Tail feather’s……….

In all his Glory……

What a treat .

Of course I did take soooo many photo’s,  550 to be exact so maybe next time I will share with you some of my gardens photo’s that I took.

My busy weekend..

What a very Busy weekend……

Full of Mowing lawns and school projects and  taking photo’s of a couple of finished jewellery pieces,  just so that I can show you tonight.

First though, I promised that the next time I was here

I would share with you my Apple head Witch.

Please don’t be scared, she’s not the prettiest witch of all and she is very very old.

Apple Head witch

Apple head witch

I think maybe her apple Head has seen a few years too many…

Then there was my sock that I wasn’t even going to start until my friend happened to give me a pattern that she had found on the internet and thought that maybe I would like…….

knitted lacy sock

I did and I think I much rather this style to the plain one’s, can’t promise though that this sock will get a mate until next winter.

I just hope I don’t forget the extra bit’s I added to the pattern.

This has been taking up my every spare minute.

The quilt.

The quilt

I think in an earlier post I said  that I planned  to have this finished within the year,

HA not likely,

I think I’ll go for the end of next year,  after all there are so  many tiny squares for me to sew, then I shall reassess my progress.

but who knows once I start I find it very hard to pull away…

Jewellery wise I have been trying to finish off some long ignored projects.

I even used a wire beaded ball that was actually a mistake that I had made about 12mths ago, also i used  a couple of beads made from various beads mainly seed beads, and a few special beads that have been hiding amongst my bead stash.

wire bead

seedbead Ball

Beaded bead

Put them altogether and I came up with a very Summery Necklace…….

summer Necklace

I’ve also made a couple of pairs of earrings..

woven earrings

Each woven using tiny little seed beads.

And for fun I had a go using Shrinky Plastic to make these cute little Owl’s.

shrinky plastic

So as you can see I have been a “little bit” preoccupied…

And the “beading tray” still has more  projects to be finished and started.

beading tray

Enough about me…….

My daughter did her first “paid” job in the Bead shop on Saturday..

hard day at work

As I had a Birthday Party to Host, her job was to look after the shop.

The Party went really well.

I’m pretty sure they all enjoyed themselves,

I was very Proud of Shan,  she did a very good Job. I guess it won’t be to long before she’s in a “real” job.

I really believe she will be an asset to anyone who employs her.

Luckily that was Saturday , because on Sunday,  the lounge became her best friend, that and One tree Hill.

lounge day Dreaded Flu……..

And the Boy, well he kept us pretty Busy for at least 1/2 of our beautiful Sunny Sunday, working on  a School project that was due TOMMORROW.

He had to come up with a model to do with renewable Energy, something he feels very passionate “ as we all should” about.

After much researching a “Wind turbine” model was decided upon….

I thought I was being very clever by getting Mr wonderful involved therefore leaving me free to do whatever I wanted…

boys at play

I don’t think we needed the heavy artillery brought out………

So to cut a long tedious story short, after a few yelling matches and the battle of the wit’s, the Wind turbine model became to be, after scrimmaging around we used a pair of My knitting needles, some cogs from a old meccano set, then we made the blades from an old milk carton and some bits and bob’s from Mr wonderful’s shed…….

So we also learnt how to recycle!!

Dan gave his model a paint

And tomorrow it goes to school.

wind turbine

I’m thinking that pretty much cover’s the weekend activity’s and more.

Did I mention it was a beautiful Sunny day, hope it stays that was for a bit but I think i heard someone mention rain…..

Craft day tomorrow, I’m planning on a bit of embroidery…….

Yet another Adventure begins….

Tania's Garden

I am such a bad blogger, i know. I am full of good intentions, and every night i plan to sit down at the computer but I always seem to get lost, Like a little child i get easily distracted and  then the Sun sets at the end of the day and the my  “blogging moment” disappears.

Luckily i have plenty of photo’s to remind me of my day’s that I want to tell you about.

Like the day the “crafty’ girls got together and I showed  them the art of flower making…….

 crafty friends

candles and flowers

I’m pretty sure the” crafty’s” were quite impressed with their very own Rose…

completed flowers

I was pretty impressed with our afternoon art in itself.

Sue's Pavlova

Then there was the day that we had Surprise visitors……..

                                                     Can u Guess who??

Master Mason

                                                        Master mason

                                           and of course his entourage

We spent a lovely sunny afternoon at our local Dam,

                                                 while the boys explored

 exploring exploring

and Mr wonderful stayed behind to cook our Lunch

I just took in the view

the view

And you know i can’t leave it be without the family shot,

                                               notice anyone missing???

Master Mason was having an afternoon cat nap.

Thanks’ guys for coming to visit.

                                                Love you all so much.

I also  wanted to show you  a doorstop doll that I made a few years ago for a friend’s Birthday  (Back in my cloth doll making era).  Every time I see her at Jen’s “a fellow crafty’” house,  I’m so amazed at how good she looks, so I figured I would show her to you.

cloth doll

Kind of inspires me to dash out to my “craft” flat and make another. I quite enjoy sewing the dolls. I’ll have to show my Apple witch doll, though she is looking a bit worse for wear these days, a bit like me I think.

I’ve have also been very busy creating, knitting and quilting, and working a day or two ……..

Next time  I promise to share photo’s of what I’ve been creating of late…….

Some owls, seed beaded balls and a very lacy sock…

And I’ll blow the cobwebs of that witch of mine and take her portrait.

For now though its a “Yawn” goodnight to you all……….

tree of life

It’s coming, the promise of warmer days,

Spring is knocking on our door.

With it comes  beautiful sunny days when being outside is a pleasure, and the garden springs into action , At least I hope……….

And speaking of flowers,

English countryside pendant

Remember My English country side pendant that I made for the Australian beading forum, well I’m happy to report that after a very close race i won the vote………….

Plus i got a little badge for my forum signature, Funny how the littlest things can make you smile.

And I’ve been to the little shop at Lucknow to add more “flower’s” to the stash.

What to do with all those perty flowers.

                                                 Now speaking of Birds.

I have been busy playing with wire to create some very cute Bird Nest’s.

                                                First came the Bird Nest:

                                               Then came the necklace:
